Hi, just to balance out some of the awful and painful experiences mentioned, I would like to commend the National Health Service in the U.K. When I used to work in the USA, the healthcare was very impressive, but it was a shock to receive an itemised bill for a dose of what was diagnosed as labyrinthitis, brought about when the regional jet airline employed a Tom Cruise wannabe as their captain at the controls and he made half the passengers barf as he buzzed the tower! That was many years ago and I was happy to pay the $2,300 hospital bill (discounted from $4,280). The American doctor had a thing for old British cars and he went VERY GENTLY on his bill as several hours bedside chats were about Jaguar and Aston Martin cars! Though I was mortified at forgetting the US$560 for the ambulance to hospital which one of my American friends reminded me of when I was back in the U.K. That USA-Ambulance bill was paid immediately - it made me appreciate the British Ambulance Service even more than before. For our American friends, here in the U.K. our gas prices at the automobile petrol pumps are 2 to 3 times higher than in America. That is part of what pays for UNIVERSALLY FREE HEALTHCARE IN THE U.K. (plus the National Insurance on wage-slips). Please forgive me, but the NHS is a far better system. From experience, the USA., doctors + nurses and hospital staff are incredibly dedicated and knowledgeable, as much as their counterparts in the U.K. But higher gas prices and National Insurance on the salary in Britain are FAR BETTER than the dysfunctional problematic healthcare system in America. Back home here in Scotland, in the U.K., my GP has been awesome. A return phone appointment was kept inside 50 minutes to triage. No A&E waiting. Then into the doctors office. Antibiotics prescribed (and you’ll know docs are very reticent about prescribing antibiotics). By day 5 of the antibiotics, the sharp pain had reduced to an occasional dull ache. Prompt bloods and reagent tests were made. No charge (it is the way the NHS system works here in Britain. It is awesome. 90% of the kidney pain has gone with the antibiotics. Frustratingly the pain came back the next month. Dr phoned back within 20 minutes. Antibiotics delivered to my house inside two hours. All sorted again. 90% of pain gone. Midway through the antibiotics, the Doc asks me to go in for a very thorough check-up. The blood results and examination indicate likely kidney stones. Appointment for CT scan Is in the system within a few hours. Doc phoned up next day to confirm “nothing sinister, all blood results normal apart from slight elevation on two markers that to indicate kidney stones. Doc went across herself to the chemist with a special prescription for anti-pain and cramp relief meds. Specialist Doc phoned to advise CT Scan appointment is now in the system. Urgent referral so am told the CT scan appointment should be just days, not weeks. So far I would commend the NHS as being 10/10, with heroically dedicated staff (all of whom should have medals for risking their lives in keeping the NHS going during the Covid pandemic). I realise it can depend where you live in the U.K., as to what NHS resources are deployed. In balance to some of the adverse experiences noted here, I think it important to add experience of the NHS when things go very well. In this example, I am incredibly relieved. Especially as a high standard is applied to all patients in this NHS area,

I strongly disagree. It has a significant effect on my wellbeing. After taking Berberine for 5 months, I feel amazing: my blood pressure is excellent, my sleep is good, I have lots of energy. Most importantly, my weight has finally gone down. After fifty, it was impossible to lose weight.

I concur with the citrus flavonoid recommendation. It helped me. There are prescription versions or supplements but to be honest you could just try eating a whole orange. The antioxidant flavonoids are in the rind.

I don’t think she mentioned it in this particular video but Dr Callan mentioned flavonoids as another dietary consideration. In Europe you can get prescriptions for these but here in the US citrus flavonoids are available at local health food stores. You can also eat an orange peel and all to get the vitamin C and antioxidants that way.

This lack of "flow" has been foreseen for DECADES... I trained as a gerontologist 35 years ago when we took lectures to learn how demographics and politics would likely combine to pose problems in not only health care but housing and other age-related issues as well. Unforeseen challenges such as COVID and inflation and climate change have only exacerbated the situation. Changing our institutions is like trying to get a stubborn elephant to turn around while herding cats. We have a huge, but entirely FORESEEN cohort of seniors moving through now. And what is our short-sighted leadership spending time and resources doing? This brain trust is FIGHTING AMONG THEMSELVES when they're not obsessing about such pressing issues as whether some students should be allowed to call themselves by a different name. When the ship is sinking it's standard practice that at some point the "strongest" will collude to lighten the load by heaving the weakest and most vulnerable overboard. Good luck, seniors!
